Mr. El Akhdar joined Beltone Private Equity in February 2008 as a Principal.
Prior to joining Beltone Private Equity, Mr. El Akhdar was at American Capital Strategies, the largest publicly traded private equity firm, where he was responsible for direct equity investments in the form of leverage buyouts and growth financings. He has led and participated in several transactions involving, in the aggregate, more than $3.8 billion. Notable transactions include ASAlliances Biofuels, a company formed to construct three 100 million gallon-per-year ethanol production facilities; EAG, the largest independent provider of micro-analytical surface testing services in the world; 3Si, the leading global provider of security solutions utilizing dye-based staining solutions to protect currency from theft; and New Piper Aircraft, a manufacturer of private jets.
Mr. El Akhdar has extensive experience in strategic acquisitions, corporate and operational restructurings including the build-out of offshore operations, recapitalizations, consolidations and corporate divestitures. He has experience investing in a broad range of industries, including energy, biotechnology, consumer products, restaurants, basic industrial, value-added distribution, healthcare services and devices, and aviation. He was involved in the structuring of private equity funds with a total capital of $4 billion. Mr. El Akhdar also served on numerous Boards of Directors. Prior to American Capital, Mr. El Akhdar was a Management Consultant for Abt Associates.
Mr. El Akhdar received a B.A. summa cum laude in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the American University in Cairo and a M.Sc. in Finance degree magna cum laude from the George Washington University School of Business. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Corporate Restructuring and Mergers and Acquisitions Program.
