Aladdin Saba
Mr. Aladdin Saba, Chairman and CEO, is a co-founder of Beltone Financial. He returned to his native Egypt from Wall Street in 1991 to co-found Kidder, Peabody & Co.'s Middle East regional office in Cairo. He was a co-founder of Hermes Financial, which grew to become Egypt's top financial institution before merging with the Egyptian Financial Group to form regional giant EFG-Hermes in 1996. After the merger, Saba served as Managing Director of EFG-Hermes' asset management division, which he built from scratch to form the largest asset management operation in Egypt with assets under management in excess of USD 500 million. Mr. Saba was also a member of the company's executive committee until February 2002, after which he left the firm to co-found Beltone Financial.
Mr. Saba serves on the board of directors of a number of institutions, including the Central Bank of Egypt, Orascom Construction Industries, Orascom Development Holdings, Ghabbour Auto and several international investment funds. For three consecutive years, he has been director of the Egyptian Stock Exchange (formerly CASE). Saba is a founding member of the Egyptian Investment Management Association as well as the Egyptian Capital Markets Association. He sits on the board of diectors of the Egypt International Economic Forum and is also a board member serving a number of industrial, environmental, tourism and real-estate development corporations. He is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, the British Egyptian Business Association and is Chairman of the Egyptian Businessmen's Association's Stock Exchange Committee.
Mr. Saba holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Wharton School (1986) as well as a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (1983). He earned a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University in 1981.
