Dr. Omran is the Chief Investment Officer of Beltone Private Equity. He brings a long and extensive experience in the areas of project finance development, direct investment and management of private equity funds in Egypt, the Gulf and Europe.
Following work with Douwe Egberts, a major food industries group in the Netherlands, he joined the Industrial Bank of Kuwait in 1976. As manager of project finance he was responsible for the, evaluation and financial structuring of investments as well as negotiation of joint venture agreements with international companies. Dr. Omran joined Helarb Management S.A., Switzerland, as Manager of the Middle East Operations and became a partner and Managing Director in 1987. Helarb Management is an investment management firm with over SF500 millions in funds under management. A broad international experience was gained in direct investments, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, negotiations, closing transactions, financial engineering and management of private equity funds. Investments were mainly in Germany, France, and Switzerland. In 1994, Dr. Omran founded Egivest Consulting, an advisory firm which provided investment management, project development and consulting services to local and regional investors.
Jointly with EFG-Herms, Egivest managed one of the first Private Equity funds in Egypt (Arab Investment Company) which was promoted by the Arab Bank Ltd. in 1997. Dr. Omran served as Managing Director of the company and was responsible for its day-to-day operations and led the management team in making over E£ 400 million in investments.
Dr. Omran holds a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California (Berkeley), 1972, and B.Sc. Chemical Engineering from Cairo University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Air Liquide, (Egypt), a subsidiary of Air Liquide, France, a world leader in the industrial gases industry, and is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce.
